Women in Science, IISER Pune

The foundation of ‘Women in Science’ committee at IISER Pune lies in the faith ‘Science for all’

The foundation of ‘Women in Science’ committee at IISER Pune lies in the faith ‘Science for all’. Science is the major contributor for prosperity of mankind and we cannot afford to lose talents merely on gender inequalities. The underrepresentation of women in science as the career path advances is often metaphorically described as the ‘leaky pipeline’. There are a number of initiatives undergoing across the globe including India to empower women in science, nonetheless the wheels of progress are still turning slowly. We need to play our individual roles as well as make collective efforts in order to ensure gender equality and equal opportunity spontaneously in science (also society) to our younger generation. WISC committee at IISER-Pune has been set up with for advocating women in science at all levels.
